A Bit About me….

I’m a little mad and eternally optimistic, curious, creative, ridiculously disorganised, and a lover of beauty. I paint and sew, sing and laugh alot! I’m a mummy, teacher, wife, and a mischief maker. I have majored in Drama, Dance and Theatre arts in my senior years of highschool, I have a Bachelor of Education majoring in Early Childhood Education, have taken Screen Printing classes with Marina Cavalieri Designs (http://www.ecogoesdeco.com). Currently I am studying  The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design (http://dowhatyouloveforlife.com/courses/). It is a pleasure learning from successful artists and look forward to sharing this journey of discovery with you!

My journey began upon having children and stepping away from my first love, Teaching.I craved connecting with people, struggled to find children’s clothes that inspired me, and took a screen printing course with the intention of custom printing my own textiles. When I took a sewing course, I became distracted and enchanted by the art of clothing design, hence my label Mustardpots and Butterscotch was born. Having toyed with that idea for a while, I returned to wanting to make clothes out of my own textile designs.

I am inspired by the charm of all things Vintage, and my love of old world embellishments. My designs are influenced by the simplicity and beauty of Japanese textiles and nature inspired art, and I aim to incorporate this simplicity and love of nature and colour in my creations. I work hard to design unique, artful and enchanting embroidery, mixed media art and children’s clothing.

Each creation is developed through my love of colour,  and the simplicity of clean lines & versatility. The Mustardpots and Butterscotch label is growing and changing, and I am enjoying very much sharing my journey with you.
